Hi my name is Ruggles, I'm a 9 month old Shih Tzu mix. My life hasn't always been as great as it is now. I get to play with all my friends at the shelter & go home with my mommy at night. It's pretty much the most fun a puppy could have! But I would like to tell you my story from the beginning. July 5th, 2014 It was muggy in the air, and I felt sticky, I could feel my momma licking me clean. I could feel how furry she was but I couldn't see her yet, my eyes wouldn't open. I heard my brother & sister crying for food, I was hungry too. So we ate as much as we could and then fell asleep. The days went on like this for a while, but I started to noticed I was smaller then my brother & sister. They would push me out of the way when we where eating. I was not very happy about this and I let them know. I seemed to always be hungry because of this. One day my eyes opened, I couldn't see much because it was dark. But I wiggled my way to a door where I saw my momma standing on a floor with holes in it. It hurt her I could tell but she couldn't go potty anywhere else. I could see a bowl of what looked like green water & kibble next to it. My sence of smell was getting better too. I could smell other dogs lots of other dogs, and some bad smells. I was now 10 days old, this is when the nice people came. It started in the morning, all the dogs that I could smell started barking, momma too. It was really loud and their barks sounded upset. I saw trucks pull up outside our box, people started getting out and setting up what looked like smaller boxes than what we where in. They were all talking a lot and seemed to be very upset. Some people were crying as they walked passed our box. Momma barked at them she didn't want them to take us away from her like people had done to her before. Once the people had all their small boxes set up they started putting dogs in them. I was very confused and so was momma. We watched the people for a long time, they would put dogs into the small boxes, then put them on the trucks, once the truck couldn't fit anymore boxes the truck would leave. The truck would come back but none of the boxes with dogs were in there. Finally the people came to our box, momma wasn't happy she barked to let them know! The people started to say things to momma. Like "Its ok, we're going to get you out of here" and " I'm so sorry sweet girl." . The people picked momma up and put her in a box, then they put me and my siblings in with her. Our new small box was put on the truck, were we waited for a few minutes then the truck started to drive. Once we the truck stopped we were carried to a room with more people. The people took momma out and put her on a table, they gave her medicine. Then they took me and my siblings out. They looked us all over and gave us medicine too. After all this moving around we found ourselves in a big box with soft things to lay on. It smelled different to, not like other dogs and no bad smell. The next day or at least I think it was the next day I'm not really sure. The people came around and cleaned up after momma, they gave her fresh food and water that wasn't green. I was really hungry but my siblings still wouldn't let me get to momma, and I was too weak to try and argue with them. A bit later another group of people came by this time they took me and my family out one by one. A nice lady looked at us an put this shiny round thing on our chests and tummies. One of the other ladies asked her if I was going to be ok, because of how small I was. She said, "I don't know, we can start feeding him by himself if he can eat. And try to keep him full but it looks like he might not make it if he stays with his family.". I didn't know what any of this meant but they put me back and looked at the rest of my family. I was getting more and more hungry and still no one would let me eat. So I took a nap, I was getting really sleepy. The next thing I know I was woken up by one of the people I saw earlier. She was the one who had asked about me, so I new she was nice. She came picked me up and set me in front of the most amazing smelling food! I immediately dove into the yummy smelling food, it tasted better then it smelled! Finally somebody was letting me eat, I ate until I couldn't eat anymore. I didn't know at the time but this women was my new mommy. She put me back with my other momma, I went to sleep. A few days went on like this where my new mommy would come a feed me then put me back. My other momma still wasn't feeding me and my siblings kept pushing out of the way. So one of the next time my new mommy came she didn't put me back with my momma. We walked down a hallway with other boxes in it. We stopped at one, she opened the door and set me down. I could smell a new smell of a different type of animal, it wasn't dog but I didn't know what it was. Then a small animal the same size as me, came up to me a smelled me all over. It was a kitten, I came to know her as Chompers. I loved her, she was nice, soft and would cuddle with me. She even let me eat, and wouldn't push me like my other siblings. |

I see all these stories about these puppy mills and abandoned puppies and I would love to be able to adopt one of these little guys. I would prefer the shitzhu, but any small breed dog would be good. I have two other dogs so a puppy would do better for them to all get along good. Let me know how I go about getting one of these cute little babies.
